James Yap Joyfully Shares First Conversation with Son Bimby After Years of No Communication
Basketball player James Yap happily shared that he recently had his first conversation in years with his son Bimby Aquino, whom he shares with media personality Kris Aquino.
It can be recalled that Kris previously revealed that it was Bimby himself who took the first step to reconnect with his father on Father’s Day.
“Yesterday, Father’s Day, my bunso (youngest) made me proud – he’s had the number to contact for almost a week, and the reluctance was so real, yet he took the first step towards rebuilding a relationship that I know will require some time to repair. But what matters most is that it has started,” Kris shared at the time.

Meanwhile, in an interview, James Yap expressed immense joy over finally speaking with his son again after many years without communication or seeing each other.
“I’ve been praying for this day to come. I missed Bimb so much! It’s the best Father’s Day gift ever. He said that he is looking forward to seeing his brother MJ again and to meeting his sister Francine soon. He even wished me luck in my new career as a public servant,” James shared.
James is especially thankful that Bimby made the first move to reach out. Back in 2021, Bimby had openly said that he wasn’t bothered by the lack of contact with his father, claiming that his mother Kris was more than enough for him.
He also admitted to feeling a bit of resentment, saying that despite knowing his phone number, his father never reached out.
“I have a phone, and it just takes like 10 digits on a keypad to call me, but he never did for several years,” Bimby once said.
However, Kris Aquino clarified that she never prohibited her son from communicating with his father and was not the reason behind the lack of communication between the two.
This reconnection marks a hopeful new beginning for James and Bimby’s relationship, with many supporters expressing joy over this emotional and long-awaited reunion.
