In a candid revelation that has taken the Philippine entertainment industry by storm, actress Jessy Mendiola shared a deeply personal moment from her marriage to actor and television host Luis Manzano. During a recent vlog on her YouTube channel, Jessy opened up about a time when she almost ended her relationship with Luis, highlighting the challenges they faced as a couple.
The Breaking Point
Jessy recounted a period in their marriage when tensions escalated due to external influences. She noticed that certain individuals in Luis’s circle were causing friction between them. Despite her concerns, Luis remained close to these individuals, leading to significant strain in their relationship.
“Yun ‘yung time na may mga tao sa paligid niya na talagang hindi okay,” Jessy recalled. “Kinasal kami tapos the next day, inaway-away ako nu’ng taong ‘yon. Kaya pala galit na galit siya sakin kasi may tinatago siyang sikretong karumaldumal, na malala.”
This situation reached a boiling point, prompting Jessy to consider leaving. She even confided in Luis’s mother, veteran actress Vilma Santos, expressing her feelings of being unheard and unsupported.
“Nagpaalam na talaga ako kay Momski no’n,” Mendiola said, referring to Santos. “Sabi ko, ‘Momski, hindi ko na talaga po kaya. Mahal ko po kayo pero hindi na po ako pinapakinggan ng asawa ko sa totoo.’”
The Turning Point
Despite the emotional turmoil, Jessy chose to stay and work through their issues. She expressed that their bond was strengthened through this challenging period. “It wasn’t easy. Gradual na nangyari na nakakalas siya sa mga taong ‘yon,” she shared.
Luis also acknowledged the difficulties they faced, admitting that there was a time when he felt exhausted from the relationship. “We were tired. Or at least I was tired, I can’t speak on your behalf,” Luis clarified during a separate vlog.
The Aftermath
Following this period of tension, Jessy and Luis have continued to navigate their relationship, learning from past challenges. They have since welcomed their daughter, Rosie, in December 2022, and later held a church wedding in Palawan in 2024.
Their journey has been a testament to resilience and the importance of communication in a relationship. Jessy’s openness about their struggles has resonated with many, offering a glimpse into the complexities of maintaining a relationship in the public eye.
