Songwriter Lolito Go recently shared his observations after tuning in to both ‘Eat Bulaga’ and ‘It’s Showtime’ during their respective noontime slots.
In a statement, Go highlighted several key points he noticed while watching the popular television programs on Tuesday.

Firstly, Go remarked on the perceived outdatedness and lackluster segments of ‘Eat Bulaga,’ contrasting it with the star-studded lineup and more exciting content of ‘It’s Showtime.’
“Baduy at outdated na ang mga segment sa Eat Bulaga. Matabang din ang minor hosts. Mas star-studded ang cast ng It’s Showtime.”
He also pointed out a noticeable drop in morale among the hosts of ‘Eat Bulaga,’ possibly stemming from recent defeats in the ratings race, a situation unprecedented even during the heyday of competing programs.
“Kapansin-pansin din na mababa ang morale ng TVJ. Probably because ngayon lang sila nakatikim ng one week consecutive defeat sa ratings game. Hindi pa ito nangyari kahit noong kasagsagan ng Wowowee sa Dos.”
Furthermore, Go noted a change in the demeanor of the hosts of ‘Eat Bulaga,’ particularly the iconic trio of Tito, Vic, and Joey (TVJ), speculating that their authority and mystique may have waned since their move to a different network and with Tito Sotto no longer holding a senatorial position.
“Nabawasan din ang authority at “enigma” ng TVJ ngayong nasa “lesser network” na lang sila at hindi na senador si Tito Sotto.”
Additionally, Go suggested that ‘Eat Bulaga’ may be implementing cost-cutting measures due to a decline in advertiser interest.
“Nagko-cost cutting na rin ata ang Eat Bulaga dahil sa patuloy na pagnipis ng advertisers nila.”
Considering these observations, Go implied that ‘Eat Bulaga’ may need to make significant changes to avoid the potential end of its longstanding dominance in the noontime slot.
“Which brings me to say, kung walang gagawing drastic measures ang Eat Bulaga, mukhang ito na nga ang end of an era para sa longest-running program sa bansa.”
The comparison between ‘Eat Bulaga’ and ‘It’s Showtime’ has become more pronounced in recent years, especially with ‘It’s Showtime’ moving to GMA Network while ‘Eat Bulaga’ transitioned to TV5.
Despite once being neck-and-neck in the ratings, ‘It’s Showtime’ now enjoys a considerable lead, sometimes doubling the viewership of its competitor.
