Isa si Sen. Lito Lapid sa mga kumandidatong senador na mukhang makakapasok sa final 12 sa naganap na senatorial race ng 2025 National and Local Elections, batay sa latest partial and unofficial election result ng Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Batay sa nabanggit na partial and unofficial result, naungusan ni Lapid (11th spot) ang kapwa re-electionist na si Sen. Imee Marcos, na siya namang kumumpleto sa Top 12 na kukumpleto sa 24 na senador sa 20th Congress. Humamig ng mahigit sa 15 milyong boto si Lapid—hindi birong bilang ng mga rehistradong botanteng naniwala sa kaniyang kakayahan, lalo na sa Senado, na isang “law-making body.”

Kaya marami tuloy sa mga netizen ang napapatanong kung ano-ano nga ba ang mga nagawa ni Lapid sa Senado at bakit lagi siya binoboto ng mga tao?

Kung tutuusin, bago tuluyang pasukin ang Senado, hindi naman bago kay Lapid ang public service. Sa kasagsagan ng pagiging action star, nanalo siyang vice governor noong 1992, at naging governor naman noong 1995.

2004 nang tuluyan na niyang subukin ang pagiging senador nang himukin siya ni dating Pangulong Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. Nanalo siya, at noong 2010, muli siyang nare-elect.

Nang magtapos ang kaniyang termino noong 2016, tumakbo siya bilang mayor ng Angeles City, Pampanga subalit natalo siya ni incumbent Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.

Bumalik sa pagtakbo bilang senador si Lapid noong 2019 at nanalo naman siya. Magtutuloy-tuloy ang pagiging senador niya kung mapoproklama siya bago matapos ang Mayo ngayong 2025.

Hindi rin nawalan ng isyu laban kay Lapid gaya na lamang sa isyu ng umano’y pork barrel scam noong 2011 gayundin ang panlilibak sa kaniyang pagiging artista at hindi naman daw nararamdaman ang kaniyang presensya sa tuwing may mga session ang Senado, o may mahahalagang pinag-uusapang usapin o problema.

Kaya naman, napa-research tuloy ang mga netizen sa naging takbo ng karera ni Lapid sa pagiging mambabatas.

Ibinahagi naman ng writer at showbiz personality na si “Rhadson Mendoza” ang kaniyang nasaliksik na mga batas na nagawa ni Lapid sa panahon ng pagiging senador niya.

Mababasa sa kaniyang Facebook post, “Sobrang curious ko bakit palaging nananalo si Lito Lapid. Chineck ko yung mga laws na naipasa niya authored/co-authored and okay naman pala.”

“Madalas natin siya ma-judge pero pag nabasa mo yung mga nagawa niya, malalaman mong nag-benefit na rin ang mga Pilipino. Kahit ako, I judged him always kasi palagi siyang tahimik lang. Pero may aksyon din naman pala siya. Di kailangan mag-ingay palagi and nakatulong din siguro yung Batang Quiapo kaya until now relevant pa rin siya. Saludo, Senator Lito Lapid,” aniya.

Ilan sa sa mga batas na nagawa ni Lapid bilang principal at co-author siya ay Free Legal Assistance Act of 2010 (Republic Act No. 9999), Biometrics Law (Republic Act No. 10367), National Legal Knowledge and Assistance System Act, at iba pa.

Kung bibisitahin naman ang website ng Senado, narito ang ilan sa mga nakasaad tungkol sa kaniya:

“He authored the Meat Labeling Act of 2011, Comprehensive Unilateral Hearing Loss Research and Development and Rehabilitation Act, Urban Agriculture and Vertical Farming Act, Corporate Social Responsibility Act, Kindergarten Education Act, and the Adopt-A-Wildlife Species Act, among others.”
