Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai delas Alas haven’t been on a sitcom together in years.

They worked together on the 1997 sitcom 1 For 3 until they went their separate ways and starred in several movies.

This 2016, Vic and Ai-Ai will be back together in their new sitcom, Hay Bahay, which will premiere this Sunday, June 19, on GMA-7 at 6:15 pm.

For Vic, Ai-Ai is one of the female artists he feels comfortable working with.

“Ai and I, we are comfortable with each other, eh. Even if you watch it, we were together in 1 For 3, before that, we were together in movies, but it was a long time since we were together in 1 For 3.

“Then he went to the other station, we lost contact. But despite the fact that we were on different stations, our friendship, didn’t disappear.

“So when we had the opportunity to make a movie, Enteng ng Ina mo, that’s when our friendship was rekindled.”

He joked, “Our love. Our love was different.”

The name of their loveteam is said to be AiSing.

And he is said to be AiAi’s favorite loveteam.

“This is the only one who perseveres with my loveteam, because it’s perfect. The good thing about that is, work is good when you’re comfortable with each other. You don’t feel the work, even at two in the morning.

“You can feel it because he’s asleep, but your tiredness disappears because you don’t notice it, laugh with laughter, just relax on the set. Then there’s Director Bibeth [Orteza], Jose and Wally, happy, happy.

“What’s important to us is that you’re happy doing what you’re doing. That means the product will be happy.” At the press conference of Hay Bahay held at the 17th Floor of GMA-7 yesterday, June 13, Ai-Ai mentioned that she was joking with Vic about regretting not getting to taste it. But for Vic, that’s just proof of how comfortable they are with each other.

“That’s how we joke, huh.

“We’re the ones who can tell stories without sounding rude. That’s why, it only means how comfortable we really are with each other.”

For him, was Ai-Ai’s “joke” with him really?

“No. I know he’s my type,” Vic joked.

Then he said, “No, this is it, it’s just talk.”

For the first time, Kristine will be doing a program on a Kapuso network and this will be her showbiz comeback after several years.

Vic said he knows that his daughter-in-law also misses acting.

“I know, her body is already missing the shootings, tapings. Well, she doesn’t want to cry anymore. That’s right, we’re reformatting. She was so lucky to have the role and I’m happy for her,” he said.

“And I’m also with my original Dabarkads, Jose [Manalo] and Wally [Bayola]. This is fun. It makes you forget the stress in life.”

How was Kristine working with him?

“It’s funny because I know he really misses work, since they started a family, it’s also funny that his priorities have changed. As for the priorities, his wife and his children.

“She’s a very good mother, a hands-on mother. So there we’re times when she got offers to do teleserye again, but she turned it down. There was one time when she was asked why she didn’t want to do TV anymore, she said, ‘I want Dad, but I don’t want to cry anymore.’

“Because she’s the type of actress who takes her role home with her. She carries it with her all the way home and doesn’t want to carry it because it will affect her relationship with her husband, her being a mother and I understand the point even though she misses it so much.”

Then she went in and offered her a sitcom.

“I said, comedy, are you okay? She said, ‘Ah, Dad, I’m okay.’ It’s just fast, when the materials are ready, the script is ready, the work is fast, eh. No fuss.

“So she agreed to be part of Hay Bahay.”

Since Vic and Pauleen Luna-Sotto got married last January 30, Vic was asked when they would have another child.

“I’m still trying,” he said with a laugh.

“That’s it, it’s coming and it’s coming. In God’s time.”
