Actor and fitness coach Gerard Pizarras had faced another health struggle after being diagnosed with Bell’s palsy again.
On Facebook video, his wife, Jan Marini, related Gerard’s treatment journey and a heartfelt message.
“21 years ago, Gerard had Bell’s Palsy on the left side of his face. Nito lang June 20, 2025, nagka- Bell’s Palsy siya ulit sa kabilang side naman.” she confirmed.
Jan admitted it was a shock for them as Gerard’s vitals and lifestyle was healthier than ever. Yet, the actor just suddenly felt stiffness on his face after their grocery shopping.
“Basta ang alam namin number one, we wanted to deal with it as privately as possible. Number two, we also wanted to do the holistic or alternative approach,” she said.
“Hindi kami nagmumukmok. Tuloy na tuloy ang buhay namin. Tuloy ang dance challenge, rampa, workout niya, date nights in between treatment days. Our optimism as a family definitely came from the source of peace, Jesus Christ.”
Thankfully, Gerard recovered within only 21 days of treatment. She expressed gratitude to the whole medical team, friends, and loved ones who continued supporting Gerard’s treatment and respected their privacy.
“Higit sa lahat, salamat, Panginoong Diyos! Sa iyo ang lahat ng papuri! Gerard Pizarras is back! Actor or director, basta, he’s back!” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Gerard also happily announced his fast recovery from Bell’s palsy.
As he reshared his wife’s video, the actor took to the captions to express his overwhelming gratitude.
“21 years ago, I faced Bell’s palsy, and recently, it struck again. But in just 21 days, God healed me. Proverbs 21:21 reminds us that chasing righteousness and kindness brings life and honor. My healing shows God’s faithfulness. He can restore you too, no matter what you face. All honor and glory to Jesus Christ my God,” he inspiringly wrote.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Bell’s Palsy is a condition characterized by the sudden onset of facial muscle weakness or paralysis, which may worsen within 48 hours. Symptoms typically begin to improve within a few weeks, with full recovery occurring in approximately six months. A small percentage of individuals may experience lingering Bell’s Palsy symptoms for the rest of their lives. In rare cases, Bell’s Palsy can recur.
Gerard’s first diagnosis was admittedly a challenge in his married life. This period proved to be a test of character, love, and patience, and made their relationship stronger.
