In May 2023, Kris revealed that she had been diagnosed with five, possibly six, autoimmune conditions, including chronic spontaneous urticaria, autoimmune thyroiditis, Churg-Strauss syndrome (EGPA), systemic sclerosis, lupus (SLE), and rheumatoid arthritis.
By September 2024, she had returned to the Philippines to begin a second round of immunosuppressant infusions, a treatment she described as a milder term for chemotherapy. She expressed the need for emotional support from family, friends, and her trusted medical team during this challenging time.
In November 2024, Kris underwent an ultrasound-guided PICC line insertion at Makati Medical Center. She shared the difficulty of managing multiple conditions simultaneously, including unexplainable allergies, lupus flare-ups, rheumatoid arthritis pain, and high blood pressure, leading her to question her ability to continue. She also mentioned her isolation due to a compromised immune system, making her vulnerable to infections.

In March 2025, Kris provided an update on her health, revealing that she had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, adding to her list of autoimmune diseases. She expressed gratitude for her son’s support, highlighting his role in helping her endure daily pain. She also acknowledged the emotional toll of her isolation, stating, “Yes, it’s lonely.”
