Nora Aunor Health Condition Before Passing Away

Ian de Leon shared that Nora Aunor underwent a surgery

Superstar Nora Aunor, a National Artist for Film, had this medical condition before she passed away.

Nora’s life and career were celebrated by fans and stars in the entertainment industry after her death was confirmed on April 16. This saddened the people she worked with in past five decades of her career. Even President Bongbong Marcos mourned her death in a statement he released on Thursday.

On April 17, her son actor Ian de Leon, with her former partner Christopher de Leon, and their adopted children actresses Lotlot de Leon and Matet de Leon, faced the media people.

Ian was their spokeperson. Based on the article in PEP, the actor denied that Nora Aunor died during an operation. “She was being operated on, and after that, she had a hard time breathing, and eventually all things went downhill from there, and that’s why they had to do another procedure after that,” he said.

However, Ian did not say the real cause of death of Nora. According to PEP’s source, the Superstar was confined in the hospital on April 10 and she had angioplasty, which is a “procedure used to open blocked coronary arteries caused by coronary artery disease,” based on John Hopkins Medicine’s website.

There is no confirmation that it was the cause of death. Based on what PEP’s found out, Nora Aunor had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), the same health condition that happened to the late Comedy King Dolphy.

The World Health Organization (WHO) described this condition as “a common lung disease causing restricted airflow and breathing problems.” This can lead to other conditions such as “lung infection, heart problem, weak muscles, and brittle bones.”

As of this writing, Nora Aunor’s cause of death is still unclear but it she was with her children when she died.
