On the second night of the wake of Asia’s Queen of Songs, Ms. Pilita Corrales, loved ones once again gathered at Heritage Park, not just to mourn — but to celebrate a life filled with music, laughter, and unforgettable charm.

Among the many heartfelt tributes, it was her granddaughter Rikki Mae Davao who lit up the room with a blend of humor and nostalgia. Speaking candidly before family and close friends, Rikki recalled the Mamita she knew — not just an icon on stage, but a fun-loving grandmother with unmatched sass.

“Mamita was the type to sing opera while cooking adobo,” Rikki quipped, drawing laughter.
“And if you dared question her fashion choices, she’d remind you — ‘I performed with Sinatra, darling.’”

She went on to share how Pilita insisted on being called “Mamita” instead of “Lola” because, in her words, “Lola sounds old, and I’m timeless!”

Audience members couldn’t help but laugh and cry — often at the same time — as Rikki’s anecdotes painted a picture of a woman who was equal parts diva, comedian, and doting grandmother.
